Casting with Mike Fox.
Im working on casting today with mike Fox, I have slightly changed my idea as the full figure in resin was far too expensive iv decided ti only use the upper half of a male figure and mould that then cast it with wax so i will have the front top half of the male figure worked in detail with wax the a flat back where with cardboard i am going to build a cityt and palce the city on to the back of the figure, I have the little individual building panited in detail. Yesterday i attended a ceramics class with Kieran which i found very interesting, and on tuesday i went too a knitting and felt making class with Liz which i loved, really enjoyed , i look forward to attending that class againg next week. And as i mentioned I am in the casting class today with Mike and i find that it is realy helping me with my urban environment project, I am excited to see my end piece.

After doing some reasearch about the resin I have discovered that it is very expensive therefore I dont think I will be able to cast the whole human sized figure in resin as I had first planned, Im going to try just cast my hand in resin and build a smaller version of the city into the see through hand. I have to go down to Des Farrell now and ask him about how I can make this work and work with the resin to cast my hand. I am also thinking of other ways in which I can create the see through body however not in such a costly form, perhaps using cling film and selotape. What I have to do tonight is get to large pieces of card and place newsprint on top. I'm going to lie out on the board, one of my friends will then draw around me with a pencil to get the shape of my body, then im going to build a wall around the shape using astate paper so the walls will be see through, I have already started building small cars and buildings to make my city 3D now I just need to paint them in detail and start laying out the streets and sticking everything down. I am also collecting maps as a guide on how to position the streets in the body structure while also keeping them simuliar to the veins.
Continuing on with my project.
I have started considering a various amount of ways to create this human scale body with the built in city. Im hoping to create a see through casting of my body using resin, have the front half and the back half build the city into the back have the heart of the city then the veins being streets however I also want the buildings and cars in this city im building as in its not going to be a body shaper map, I want it to be 3D. I'v gone out into to the city and done drawings of buildings using differing mediums. I'm also going to start attending the life drawing classes on thursdays to come more famuliar with the human body.

Urban Enviroment Project.
For my Urban Enviroment project I was very intrested in the idea of ceating a city with in the body, as in using the veins and arteries as streets and avanues, etc. I also wish to make it 3D, using various different materials. I would like this to be about my hight and width. I'v done plenty of reasearch on mutiple different ideas, however this idea has gotten me most excited to start working on. I'm not yet fully sure how or what type of materials I will use to make this project work. I would also like to have the the city scape e.g tall buildings, vehicles etc. How im going to make this work I am finding quite tricky however I had my personal tutorial yesterday with Mike Canning, which I found helped alot, he gave me plenty of refrences for artists who have done simuliar work and I have gathered alot of information on how to make this project work and come out as I hope it will.
